About us
We started PetShield because too many pet still miss their follow-up shots even though the vaccines are available. Busy owners forget dates, and clinics sometimes feel pressured to prescribe antibiotics instead of focusing on prevention. The result is more sick dogs, more outbreaks, and more antibiotic resistance affecting animals, humans and the environment.
Our approach is straightforward.
Puppy owners: receive clear vaccination cards with infographics at the clinic, automatic reminders tailored to their puppy’s age, and daily visual nudges like stickers and magnets at home.
Breeders: send puppies to new homes with a ready health plan.
Veterinarians and Veterinary clinics: keep pet health records, keep in touch with their clients and are trained to become ambassadors of preventive healthcare.
We use the latest World Small Animals Veterinary Association (WSAVA) guidelines and the One Health principles supported by World Health Organisation (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and many more.
The goal is simple: more pets finish the full vaccination schedule, fewer disease outbreaks, and fewer unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions.
PetShield is run by young Tanzanian vets who believe real change in pet health and antimicrobial resistance happens when pet owners, breeders and clinicians work together. Join us and give your pet the best start while helping fight antimicrobial resistance where it matters most.
